Detractors often criticize the global apparel industry for being in a “race to the bottom” — with competition centered upon lowering costs and fast fulfillment. At LS&Co., we’re trying to re-imagine the industry as a race to the top.
And we all know races with friends are more fun.
That’s one of the reasons we were excited to introduce an innovative new partnership with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) last year. The program offers a direct financial incentive to suppliers who perform better on sustainability.
Now, we’re proud to announce that this groundbreaking work has been recognized as part of the SUSTAINIA 100 in the fashion sector. This annual study features 100 leading sustainability innovations from around the world from 10 sectors including education, energy, health, cities, resources, buildings, food, fashion, transportation and information technology.
This year, Sustainia’s research team and advisory board screened over 1,500 innovations from which the final 100 cases were selected. The 2015 innovations are deployed in 151 countries including both Western innovation hubs and emerging economies.
Sustainia is offering the study free of charge so you can read up on all of this year’s sustainability innovations (page 60 is a must read!).
