For the 19th consecutive year, Levi Strauss & Co. has received top marks from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation – the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQIA+ people – on their Corporate Equality Index. The index is a national benchmarking tool that recognizes organizations that practice LGBTQIA+ equality in:
LS&Co. joins more than 840 major companies in 2022 that received the highest CEI ranking—a perfect score of 100—earning us the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQIA+ Equality.
“LS&Co. has been a vocal proponent of LGBTQIA+ equality for so long that I think it would be easy sometimes for us to rest on our laurels, so I’m always most proud when I see us recommitting ourselves to staying ahead of the curve,” said Beckett Doyle, co-lead of LS&Co.’s LGBTQIA+ U.S.-based employee resource group Inside Out.
The impressive score from the CEI – highlighting 1,271 businesses’ 2022 equality policies – comes at a time when we are advancing our diversity programming and operations to enhance our employee’s experience.
We recently completed our first Global Self Identification (GSID) campaign in the U.S., adding two new categories of sexual orientation and identity. We’ve found that 319 individuals who participated in GSID identified as part of our LGBTQIA+ community – important data that will allow us to better tailor programs and benefits for this sector of our employee population.
At LS&Co., we’re continuing to expand our global employee resource groups (ERGs), which include our LGBTQIA+ ERGs Inside Out, here in the U.S., and Unlabeled out of Europe. These ERGs help to create safe spaces for our employees and foster authentic connections.
