With just a little more than six weeks to go before the U.S. midterm elections on November 6th, we are stepping up efforts to get our employees, and you, to use your voices by casting a ballot.
On Sunday, we proudly announced our partnership with Patagonia to launch the “Time to Vote” campaign with more than 100 other companies encouraging voter turnout by making sure employees can take the time they need to participate in the election. Specifically, employees are eligible to take the following amount of time:
-
Five hours away from work to vote for corporate and non-union Distribution Center employees
-
At least three consecutive hours away from work to vote for retail employees or up to two hours of paid time off for those who are unable to vote during their non-working hours due to their work schedule
Since that announcement, more than 200 companies have pledged to join the #TimetoVote effort. Together, we hope to tackle the dismal voter turnout rates in the U.S., which are among the lowest in the developed world and we encourage more businesses to join us.
Additionally, we have teamed up with Rock the Vote to help potential voters check their registration status, register to vote and sign up for Election Day reminders, and with Headcount.org to drive voter registration at music festivals and concerts.
