If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and are looking for a different way to spread the holiday cheer, consider donating to the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund, which helps Bay Area families in need during the holiday season.
Spending time with our loved ones is one of the special joys of the holiday season.
It’s also a time to remember that there are families and individuals who are not as fortunate due to unexpected financial setbacks. Sadly, in today’s faltering economy, with millions of people out of work, there are many of our neighbors who need a helping hand right now.
Founded twenty-five years ago, the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund has become one of the largest sources of emergency financial assistance in the country.
Since its founding, the Season of Sharing has distributed more than USD$78 million to individuals and families. It also supports food banks distribute over 1.5 million meals year-round.
In 2010, Season of Sharing raised a record USD$6.4million from individuals and corporate donors—among them, the Levi Strauss Foundation. This year, to help them top their own record, the Foundation is providing a USD$50,000 donation.
And you can help too—no contribution is too small, and 100% of your funds will go entirely to help someone at a critical point in their life.
